Someone in Germany seems to have gotten upset

Thu Jun 5 18:10:14 PDT 1997 — Someone in Germany seems to have gotten upset with one of our customers and decided to flood them off the Internet. The resulting traffic caused problems with pm8 and pm9 this afternoon, so if you noticed odd slow performance or disconnects around 4:30pm, this might explain it. We’ve blocked traffic from the offending host. -Dane

Thu Jun 5 03:18:34 PDT 1997 — news.sonic.net (Ultra) was down from 1:59am until about 2:50am to swap out the Ethernet card. Please see my post in sonic.help (thread: ‘…this is silly’ 🙂 for more information. -Scott

Update – this seems to have improved performance on the LAN quite a bit, please follow up in the newsgroup if you were experiencing performance problems with news and let us know how it’s working now. -Dane
