Fri Jul 11 08:53:03 PDT 1997 — UUNet’s MAE-West facilities were offline from about 7:45am until about 8:20am. While UUNet has restored service, we’re seeing a lot of loss in their network. Our redundant circuit with MCI circuit isn’t affected, so we’re evaluating a partial or complete shutdown of the UUNet T3. -Scott

Thu Jul 10 17:34:43 PDT 1997 — Brian has implimented a much improved version of the user home page listing. Users who publish web pages are automaticly listed here. The new version includes a search tool, page titles and even FTP site links if the user has one. Check it out at:

Thu Jul 10 17:34:09 PDT 1997 (updated) — AOL is again having trouble dealing with the volume of mail that their members receive, and we’ve got a backlog of about 55,000 messages. If you’ve got corespondants on AOL, allow for delayed delivery. If you’ve got friends on AOL, consider suggesting an ISP. -Dane

Sat Jul 5 19:16:27 PDT 1997 — One of our network access servers went offline for about 16 minutes this evening. All’s well after a reboot. -Dane

Fri Jul 4 11:27:00 PDT 1997 — The Sonic customer service and support staff will be taking the afternoon off today. We’ll be spending quite a bit of time playing Electronic Art’s Moto Racer, so if you’ve got a copy, consider joining us over the net! A server will be up between about 1:30pm and 4pm at dual.sonic.net. -Dane

Thu Jul 3 16:14:25 PDT 1997 — We’re just finishing setup on our new SSL secure web server. We’ve got a bit more software to wrap up, plus we’ll be moving the system into a new rack mount chassis, but it’s basicly complete. We’ll be making pricing and signup information available here shortly. -Dane

Update – the SSL system is serving web pages, and we’ve made quite a few tools available. Perl 5.04 is online, as well as PGP and Sendmail. Users can also use Linux a.out or Elf binaries, which came be compiled here on the shell server.
