Fri Jul 11 08:53:03 PDT 1997 — UUNet’s MAE-West facilities were offline from about 7:45am until about 8:20am. While UUNet has restored service, we’re seeing a lot of loss in their network. Our redundant circuit with MCI circuit isn’t affected, so we’re evaluating a partial or complete shutdown of the UUNet T3. -Scott

Thu Jul 3 16:14:25 PDT 1997 — We’re just finishing setup on our new SSL secure web server. We’ve got a bit more software to wrap up, plus we’ll be moving the system into a new rack mount chassis, but it’s basicly complete. We’ll be making pricing and signup information available here shortly. -Dane

Update – the SSL system is serving web pages, and we’ve made quite a few tools available. Perl 5.04 is online, as well as PGP and Sendmail. Users can also use Linux a.out or Elf binaries, which came be compiled here on the shell server. If anyone has any other ideas for tools that the SSL box should have, please post to news:sonic.net -Dane
