Vallejo & Napa – Fusion/FlexLink Intrusive Maintenance

Update (2:45AM): Maintenance complete.

Beginning tonight at midnight, we will be performing upgrades on equipment serving Fusion and Flexlink customers in Vallejo and Napa. Expected downtime for this operation can be up to 2 hours, but is typically less than 15 minutes for most customers.

Site Reachability Issues

Starting at approximately 10pm last night access to certain websites including wsj.com, dowjones.com and marketwatch.com became unstable due to a bad routing advertisement apparently originating from a transit partner. Network Engineering has removed this route and is conducting an investigation into the root cause of the issue to prevent the problem from occurring again.

Tonight at 11:59 pm we will be running a maintenance window to apply software updates to webmail.sonic.net. During this time webmail users may see brief interruptions as services are restarted.

Palo Alto & Santa Clara – Fusion/FlexLink Intrusive Maintenance

Los Angeles Fiber Maintenance

Tonight at midnight, we will be performing maintenance on equipment serving fiber customers in the greater Los Angeles area. Expected downtime is less than 10 minutes.

Los Angeles POP Maintenance

Update (7/26 10:00PM): All upgrades went smoothly and are fully completed.

 

During today and tomorrow (7/25-7/26), we are performing work in our primary Los Angeles data-center to upgrade network and systems infrastructure.  We do not expect any service interruptions, beyond a short planned midnight service migration which will be announced shortly.

San Francisco – Fusion/FlexLink Intrusive Maintenance

Update: Maintenance was completed at approximately 2:00AM

Beginning tonight at midnight, we will be performing upgrades on equipment serving a small subset of Fusion and Flexlink customers in San Francisco. This maintenance will not affect any Gigabit Fiber customers. Expected downtime for this operation can be up to 2 hours, but is typically less than 30 minutes for most customers.

Los Angeles Core Network Maintenance

Tonight, starting at midnight, we will be performing maintenance on backbone equipment serving the Los Angeles area. We do not anticipate any customer impact.

Update(1:59am): Due to a provisioning problem with one of our transit providers, customers in LA experienced a loss of connectivity to some Sonic network assets such as member tools, email and Sonic hosted websites for less than 10 minutes. We have engaged our provider to rectify the provisioning issue so this will not re-occur.

Alameda – Fusion/FlexLink Outage

Update(11:45AM): Service was restored at about 10:30AM.

Update(8:50AM): We believe we have narrowed down the cause of the outage. A technician has been dispatched to make the repair. ETR is 10:30AM.

We are currently investigating an outage affecting Fusion and FlexLink customers in the Alameda area. We will update this message when we have further information.
