Over the next day or so, Sonic Operations will be updating the OS for mirrors.sonic.net in place. This will result in periodic outages as services (and the server itself) will need to be restarted.

Tonight (5/7/2026) beginning at 11pm PST System Operations will conduct maintenance and updates on numerous systems including but not limited to email, VPN and Member Tools. Downtime for each individual system is expected to be brief, and the maintenance operation is expected to run for roughly one hour.

This morning the Systems Operations Center identified a DNS misconfiguration on a newly-deployed email backend server which had been leading to forwarding and aliasing delivery problems resulting in bounced email as well as the possibility that some forwarded messages were not sent. Due to the nature of the misconfiguration it is difficult to accurately assess the number of messages impacted, but any issue which did occur would have happened between roughly midday on Monday the 27th and today (the 28th) at approximately 11:15am. We do not see ongoing delivery issues at this time.

Tonight (3/10/26) beginning at approximately 11pm System Operations will conduct planned maintenance on a database which backs several Sonic services, including Sonic Fax service. During the outage impacted services may fail or display errors. Expected downtime for the operation is approximately 15-30 minutes. An update will be posted here once maintenance is complete.

Beginning at 11pm tonight (10/7/2025), System Operations will be performing updates to various public-facing systems which may lead to short disruptions of those systems.
Maintenance work for each system is expected to be very brief, and the overall maintenance period is scheduled for one hour. An update will be sent upon completion.
Update: Maintenance complete. Some unexpected instability was encountered with the mail cluster which caused the maintenance window to run long.

Between 11 and midnight tonight the System Operations team will be transitioning a key backend server to our virtualization platform. While most systems will continue to run normally during this shift, some instability with various elements of our Member Tools may be encountered. An update will be posted once work is complete.
