Wed May 17 17:07:34 PDT 2000 — Thunder, our primary web server, has had problems with its operating system, causing downtime. We have replaced the kernel with the latest version, which has been running smoothly since yesterday. Hopefully the problem is solved. We are awaiting delivery of a new load-balancing switch, which we will use to test our new load-balancing configuration with our web servers. Once in place, the failure of a single web server will not affect customer web sites. -Scott

Mon May 8 12:17:38 PDT 2000 — Our shell server, bolt.sonic.net ran short on resources, and is currently returning some segmentation faults. We are currently working to kill off some old ‘stuck’ processes to clear resources. We will put together a watchdog that kills processes which are more than a day or two old, as they don’t need to clutter up the system for months. -Dane and Scott
