Thu May 4 12:57:01 PDT 2000 — We now have filtering in place for the ILOVEYOU virus now. It’s based on a unique string in the virus code. While we were at it, we put filtering in place for a couple of the older email viruses too. So far we’ve caught about a dozen copies. -Kelsey

Thu May 4 10:53:28 PDT 2000 — There is a nasty new virus propagating through the net right now called the ‘ILOVEYOU’ virus. It has already caused a great deal of trouble. Wed May 3 11:58:32 PDT 2000 — We received some reports of delayed outbound email delivery and upon investigation found that marine.sonic.net was running on a saturated 10Mbit Ethernet card. We took marine off line and installed a new 100Mbit card. The mail queue is currently around 19,000 messages and falling. -Scott, Eli, and Kelsey
