Thu Aug 19 11:42:01 PDT 1999 — News maintenance. Yesterday, we did some maintenance on Ultra’s active file, essentially syncronizing the news database’s article numbers with those actually found on the disk. Some newsreaders may respond to the change by showing a newsgroup with unread articles, and possibly no unread news when such a newsgroup is opened. We apologize for the inconvenience; we don’t anticipate doing that again for another year or two. -Scott

(DSL upgrade).
Tue Aug 17 23:07:07 PDT 1999 — (DSL upgrade). Well, the upgrade didn’t go as planned, and we were forced to go back to the T1 and await further testing of the T3 circuit tommorow. Grr. After we’ve got the issue isolated and resolved, we’ll reschedule the migration. Downtime while PacBell tried to transition was one hour. -Dane

Tue Jun 15 16:01:14 PDT 1999 — We’re doing a lot of work in our dial group today, and a number of small problems have been resolved. Some customer connections are being reset during this work. We’ll try to schedule the more painful stuff for late at night. -Dane, Eli, etc.

Mon Jun 14 19:35:57 PDT 1999 — We’ve observed two spontaneous reboots of nas22.sonic.net today, at around 6pm and at 7:30pm. This resulted in the termination of about 130 dialup connections each time. We’ll be working on replacement of the core components of that unit in the morning.
Trouble with nas22 may explain the disconnection problems that some customers are experiencing. If you get disconnected, please make note of the IP address you were allocated so that we can see which access server you were on. You can obtain your IP address in Windows using the winipcfg command. -Dane

Mon Jun 14 18:11:45 PDT 1999 — It appears that one of our Computone Intelliservers lost it’s tiny little mind and needed a reboot this afternoon. The error being returned to end users was error 629, data link terminated by remote peer. We’re working currently on a lobotomy for the Computone equipment which will bypass the rather quirky on-board OS. -Eli & Dane

We’d like to showcase the great sites that our customers are hosting here and also drive new traffic to your site. A banner ad on the Sonic.net home page will be seen by thousands of local Internet users. We’d like to continue to add value to our multihomed hosting offering.
