Sonic Network Outage

Sonic is currently experiencing a network wide issue.  Some locations and services have been restored.  We are working fast to get everyone up and will update with more information

Network Engineering

Update(12:56pm) – We believe all services should be restored.

Followup(2:32pm) – This outage was caused by a member of our team applying route filtering changes to core networking equipment. The new filtering policy was tested in a lab environment, but testing failed to take into account certain real-world conditions. The problem became apparent almost immediately but our engineering team required time to restore all equipment to it’s previous state. We will be going over and reinforcing proper testing and procedure to ensure any preventable outages do not occur in the future.

Northern California Legacy DSL Maintenance

Update (3:34AM): Maintenance is now complete. Due to some unforeseen complications, a subset of Legacy DSL customers may have experienced service interruptions.

Beginning tonight at midnight we will be performing maintenance on equipment serving legacy DSL customers. The maintenance window is 1 hour, but we do not expect any customer downtime.

Service Outage – Fusion Fiber San Francisco

Update: Service was restored at approximately 5:30PM.

 

We are experiencing issues with a piece of equipment that serves Fusion Fiber customers at 45 Lansing in San Francisco.  This is unrelated to the emergency maintenance that was required earlier today.  A replacement of equipment may be necessary.  We will update when more information is available.

San Francisco & Oakland – Fusion/FlexLink Intrusive Maintenance

Update (1:38AM): Maintenance complete

Beginning tonight at midnight, we will be performing maintenance on equipment serving a subset of Fusion and FlexLink customers in San Francisco and Oakland. This maintenance is for copper based services only, and Fusion Fiber customers will be unaffected. Downtime is expected to be about 15 minutes.

Fiber DIA OPT-E-MAN Intrusive Maintenance

Update (2:26AM): Maintenance Complete

Beginning tonight at midnight, we will be performing maintenance on a small subset of Fiber DIA OPT-E-MAN circuits. This maintenance will not affect any ASE/SSE customers. The maintenance window for this procedure is 3 hours, but downtime is not expected to be more than 30 minutes.

Sonic Telecom Core Maintenance

Tonight, October 10, starting at midnight, we will be performing maintenance on core equipment serving our telecom network. Customers with private transport services may experience a brief disruption in traffic while a new best path is calculated.

Update(3:55am): Unexpected behavior from networking equipment caused an outage for customers at the Santa Rosa Sonic facility. All services have been restored and maintenance is now complete.
