Tonight, June 21st, from 11:40pm to 11:59pm, System Operations will be replacing a failed component in one of our internal database servers. During the maintenance window, some web-based services such as webmail and Member Tools may be unavailable.

The System Operations group will be performing general maintenance and upgrades on Sonic.net’s internal database servers this Thursday, June 20th, at 11:40pm. Work is expected to be complete by 11:59pm. During this time, services such as Member Tools may be temporarily unavailable.

Upgrades are complete as of 1:00AM on Friday, June 21st.

Update: Everything went well and all services should be available.
Tonight 2-1-2012 we will be upgrading our database servers. At 11:00 pm we will upgrade our internal MySQL server. This will cause member tools to be unavailable for approximately 5 minutes. Then at 11:59 pm we will upgrade both of our customer MySQL servers. They will be unavailable for use for approximately 5 minutes.

System Operations will be replacing a failed battery backup unit in one of our customer-facing database servers at 11:00pm PST on Thursday, December 20th, 2012. During this time, MySQL 5.x databases will be unavailable. The work is expected to take no more than 30 minutes.

Tonight Nov 15, starting at 11:59 we will be performing maintenance on our customer sql server running MySQL 5.0. We will be upgrading it to MySQL 5.5. We believe the upgrade to go smoothly with minimal downtime. If you notice anything strange after the upgrade, please visit forums.sonic.net and post your issues.

Tonight, Wednesday December 7th at 12:10 AM we will be migrating all databases currently on our MySQL 4.1 database server to our new MySQL 5.5 server. We are anticipating approximately 2 hours of downtime. -William and the SOC
Update: All services have been migrated to the new server.
We have just deployed a new customer SQL server running MySQL 5.5. This new machine has 16GB of RAM and 1.3TB of raid storage and redundant BGP feed uplinks. This is  more resources then our 2 previous servers combined! We would welcome customers to take an opportunity to migrate their existing databases over to this new box.
