Sonic Telecom Emergency Maintenance – Oakland

Tonight at 11:59pm we will performing emergency maintenance on a piece of network equipment in the Oakland area.  A small subset of fusion and flexlink customers will be affected while we reboot a process on the device.  Expected downtime is 5 minutes.

Sonic Support Closing Early

Sonic Support will be closing early today, 12/14/2018, at 6pm for our annual Staff Holiday Party.

Our 24×7 network operations team will remain on call for our Enterprise, dedicated circuit and colocated customers.

Support will return Saturday 12/15 to our normal working hours, 8am to 10pm.

South Bay – Fusion DSL/Flexlink Intrusive Maintenance

Tomorrow night, starting at 11:59 PM, a subset of customers in the South Bay area will experience a brief service interruption while we perform some maintenance. Expected down time is about 15-30 minutes while the equipment reboots. The maintenance window will be 2 hours.

The affected cities are:

Fremont
Menlo Park
Milpitas
Redwood City
San Carlos
Santa Cruz

Phone Switch Maintenance

Tomorrow night start at 11:59 PM we will be upgrading network hardware that supports our phone switch. The planned maintenance should take 2 hours and during that time, some call quality issues could occur for  customers on Sonic’s voice platform.  An update will be provided when maintenance is completed.

Toll Free Calling Issue

Update 2:15 PM – We’ve verified all reported incidents have been resolved.  If your are still experiencing any issues with your Toll Free and LA phone services please contact the Sonic Network Operations.  Thank you.

Update 2:01 PM – We believe we’ve resolved the issue with calls not connecting to Toll Free and LA numbers. We are testing to verify all reported incidents have been resolved.  Thank you for your patience.

Update: 1:45 PM – Our engineering team is still working with our upstream carrier to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.  Still no ETR. We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

Update 1:15PM – Our engineering team is attempting to route around the upstream carrier with the issue. We will continue to work with our upstream carrier to resolve the issue on their network as well. We will continue to update this post as we get more information. Thank you for your patience.

We are currently investigating an upstream carrier issue causing calls to our customers’ toll free numbers to fail. Enterprise customers with voice services in the LA area are likely effected as well. We will update this post as soon as we have an ETR.

Fiber DIA outage

12/12/2018 9:40AM – A subset of our Fiber DIA customers are experiencing connectivity issues.  Our team is working with our fiber vendor to restore connectivity as quickly as possible and will update as more details become available. There is currently no ETR.

Update: 9:44AM – Our Fiber vendor believes they have isolated the root cause of this issue and are currently moving to fix connectivity issue.  There is still currently no ETR.

Update: 10:34AM – We believe we’ve been able to resolve all the reported connectivity issues for our Fiber DIA customers. If you believe you’re experiencing any residual connectivity problems on the Fiber DIA platform please notify us at the Sonic Network Operations.  Thank you for your patience.

Additional Sonic Telecom Hardware Replacement – Downtown Oakland

Tomorrow (Tues 12/11/18) at 11:59PM, we will be performing intrusive maintenance on hardware serving Sonic customers in downtown Oakland. Customer connectivity will be impacted for the duration of this work. The maintenance window will last until 3AM, but we expect work to conclude much sooner.

System Maintenance

This maintenance is now complete.

Update: This maintenance has been rescheduled for tonight, December 12th, at 11:00pm.

Tonight at 10:30pm we will be performing upgrades to systems including custom hosting containers and members tools. The expected downtime should be brief and we expect to complete the maintenance within 2 hours.

Sonic Tech Support Phone Outage

10/7/18 1:30PM – We are presently experiencing issues with our office PBX preventing our tech support from taking customer calls.  The problem is being investigated and we will update with more info ASAP. Thank you for your patience.
