Our 24×7 network operations team will remain on call for our Enterprise, dedicated circuit and colocated customers.

Update: Maintenance is complete.

Tonight at 11pm we will be conducting maintenance operations on a range of servers, which will impact briefly services including member tools and webmail.  This maintenance should be completed within 2 hours, and we will update this post once it is finished.

Update: An issue that kept user directories from being mounted correctly has been resolved.

Update: Issues are still ongoing and being investigated.

This morning shell.sonic.net was briefly unreachable while instability issues were addressed. Shell sessions that were open were closed and the host was unavailable for a few minutes, but at this time it is back online and users are able to connect.

This morning we had to restart the OpenVPN instance running ovpn.sonic.net. The service should have only been unreachable briefly, and it is currently up and running. You may need to re-enter your credentials if your client has not already reconnected.

System Operations

Update: Maintenance is complete.

Tonight at 11:59 pm we will be performing updates to a range of systems, including mail, member tools, and ovpn.sonic.net.  There will be brief interruptions to these services as systems are rebooted.  We expect to conclude the maintenance within 1-2 hours.

Update 1:09am: Maintenance complete.

We are currently experiencing a small area outage for some Fusion Fiber customers in San Francisco. Our Network Engineers are currently working on a resolution but there is no ETR at this moment.

Update 7:20PM: Repairs are currently in progress, still no ETR at this point.

Update 2, 10:51PM: Replacement of a section of damaged fiber cable is required. Cable replacement is expected to begin at 8:00am, causing up to 2 hours of down time for customers served by the damaged cable.

UPDATE 3: The issue is still ongoing. The repair looks to take a bit longer. We are going for an estimated repair time of about 3pm.

UPDATE 4: As of 3pm the issue is still on going but we are making progress. Will update this page when we have more information.

Update 5, 4:50PM: Repairs have been completed and service is restored. If you are still experiencing connectivity issues please reboot your devices and then reach out to Sonic Support.

Monday night (July 2nd) starting at 11:59PM, we will be performing followup maintenance on hardware serving Fusion and FlexLink Fiber customers in the Brentwood area. The work should not be customer impacting and the maintenance window is 3 hours.

Tonight starting at 11:59 PM we will be conducting maintenance on our phone switch. We do not expect any issues with call completion, however commportal will be unavailable for 5 to 10 minutes during this time. The expected maintenance window for this operation is 4 hours.
