Sun Mar 2 10:58:21 PST 1997 — Our eris authentication library had some troubles, and some users may have been unable to check POP mail for a while. We’ve restarted things, and all’s well now. -Dane * I’m still tracking this down. There’s a post about the problem we’re seeing in sonic.help, (subject regarding CGIWrap) -Scott 3/5/97

Wed Feb 26 03:13:19 PST 1997 — On Wednesday February 26th, at about 3am, we commissioned our new network news server. This new server has a larger and faster disk array, which will allow us to keep news on the server longer, as well as accept more news peers. While we’ve attempted to make this upgrade as seamless as possible, the new server may not act exactly like the old server did — your patience as we iron out any problems is greatly appreciated. (Please post comments to sonic.help.) -Scott

Tue Feb 25 15:25:29 PST 1997 — UUNet’s San Jose router rebooted and was offline for about 30 minutes, and our Cisco router automaticly switched everything over to the other connection, meaning no interruption of service. These are the type of things that set Sonic apart from other ISPs – users were unaffected by an upstream outage due to our redundancy and planning. It’s great when these things work out! -Dane

Mon Feb 24 21:57:31 PST 1997 — On Wednesday February 26th, at 2am, we will commission our new network news server into production. This will mean about a 30 minute outage as our news servers swap roles. We’ve attempted to make this upgrade as seamless as possible — most especially, no changes need be made on network news clients. -Scott

News server update.

Sat Feb 22 04:59:07 PST 1997 — News server update. Our new news server is still spooling news, which is currently using 4.6 GB of space on the 24 GB disk spool. We’re planning on putting it into production Tuesday or Wednesday, which will mean about a 15 minute outage during the wee hours of the morning. -Scott
