Fusion Fiber – Albany Emergency Maintenance

This morning (2/28/19), a non-Sonic underground construction crew working near the Albany phone office inadvertently compromised our fiber conduit. The issue was identified before enough damage was done to cause customer outage, but we will have to perform significant work to properly repair the fiber. Tonight, starting at 10 PM, our outside plant team will be performing extended maintenance through mid-morning Friday to repair this issue. All Sonic Fusion Fiber customers in Albany may be impacted by this work for some portion of the maintenance window. We are working swiftly to resolve this issue and apologize for the inconvenience to all affected customers in Albany.

Update: Impacted customers also exist in the following communities near the Albany border: El Cerrito, Kensington, Berkeley Hills, and North Berkeley.

Update(2:11am): Maintenance is now complete.  Upon inspection, we were able to restore the cables without needing to make any splice repairs.  No customer outages occurred during the maintenance.

Phone Switch Maintenance

Tonight 2/28/2019 at 11:59 PM we will be performing maintenance on our
phone switch. No service interruptions is expected as a result of this maintenance.
The window for this maintenance is 1 hour.

Intrusive Core Equipment Maintenance – Palo Alto

Update(3:10AM): Maintenance is complete.

On Tuesday, 2/26/19 at 11:59 pm, we will be performing maintenance on network equipment serving the core of Sonic’s Network. We do not expect any outages during this maintenance, however it is possible that you may experience some very brief moments of route instability as the network converges. Our maintenance window will be 4 hours.

Tonight beginning at 11pm we will be applying updates to several customer facing systems including our VPN server.  Any downtime to effected systems should be brief, and we expect to complete the maintenance within 2 hours.

Phone Switch Maintenance

Tonight 2/19/2019 at 11:59 PM we will be performing maintenance on our phone switch.
No service interruptions is expected as a result of this maintenance. The
window for this maintenance is 1 hour.

Sunset District San Francisco – Fusion Fiber Maintenance

Tonight (2/19/19) at 11:59PM we will performing intrusive maintenance on a subset of Fusion Fiber customers located in San Francisco’s Sunset District. Approximate expected customer downtime is 60 minutes or less. An update to this MOTD will be provided when all customer connectivity has been restored.

Small Legacy DSL Outage

As of 8:15 am we have been getting reports of a issue on our Legacy DSL network. Currently we do not have estimated time of repair as of yet but will update as soon as able.

Update: Service was restored as out 11:10AM this morning.  We identified a hardware failure in our DSL aggregation network, and reconfigured customer traffic to use redundant equipment.  The failed hardware will be replaced shortly in a planned maintenance window.

Tonight at 11pm we will be performing maintenance to various systems inculding our VPN and shell servers.  We expect any downtime to affected services to be brief and for the maintenance to be completed within 2 hours.

Emergency Maintenance – Legacy DSL

Update (1:10AM): Maintenance complete.

Tonight at 11:59PM we are performing maintenance on core equipment serving our legacy DSL network. We do not expect any customer impact from this maintenance, but it remains a possibility given the scope of the work.  An update will be posted when our work is complete.
